The Four Elements ~ Handbound Book Set
The Four Elements is a unique work of Earth Art, a set of four miniature handmade books that fit into a slipcase. Created to honor Earth Community, the books are laminated with Japanese paper, and handbound with hemp cords and beads. The slipcase is made from illustration board, with collaged papers and a paperclay/pigment layer on the spine that resembles an ancient artifact. The colourful Earth/Air/Fire/Water endpapers (above) contrast with the earth tones, and alternate between the front and back of each book. The interior pages feature "oracles" and poem fragments from ancestral wisdom and the voices of the Earth Spirits. Sold as a set, books are 4.5 X 5.5 inches.
